Mona, I wished to show you the planets yesterday.
I was ready to illuminate the old astrolabe,
but sadness stopped me, an’ took my voice away.
I would’a tried with my craft to probe
the depths of our great divide,
where no love I hope to found
and all the guiding stars do not guide
and sound, there is no sound.
From here the answer to your question is obvious:
No planets can hold their orbit,
everything roams into emptiness,
Without love, Mona, harmony is forfeit.
Not even quick-witted Mercury
nor beautiful Urania, Muse of Astronomy,
would enter this world undone, without gravity.
Let’s be frank and call it depression,
but did you know, Mona, it comes from Saturn?
Every 27 years, he teaches us his lesson:
that life is short, and love that burns
can also grow weak and cold
and that when joys appear few,
and youth turned old,
we gain wisdom and an ability to choose.
And I chose to stand by your side
when Saturn came to you
and sat with you on his unhappy ride
that I might dream with you.
Thus it is my duty to tell you of change
when all the planets and stars rise again
when out of darkness orbits and color rearrange
and fly together perfectly in unison.
To begin, I ponder the words “as above, so below.”
When I turn my thought to the vastness of space
I often wonder how be it that energy can flow
over such great distances without a particle trace.
And though many think little of astrology
there is some profound benefit in seeing
at the center of man a picture of eternity
every star the summum bonum of his being.
Take this as an example, the Sun.
“Above” the Sun is the gravitational center.
It’s energy and it’s light, its pure emanation.
“Below” its our incarnation. We surrender
to spirit in the body. The experience
of consciousness. Unique. Singular.
It holds everything together — Existance,
as we know it — A miracle. Life’s splendor.
Now each planet has its story to depict.
Mars says, “Nothing’s done without pressure.”
While Earth and her Moon choose to perfect
organic life as their primary endeavor.
And most important to you and me, Venus
the morning star that brings peace and pleasure.
Mona it was that star that showed us
a possibility of happiness together.
Today, Venus may well be forgotten,
a mind and heart; a future worn out.
Fruit so sweet is close to being rotten
It is so, when Saturn pushes her out.
It feels we are no longer pulled near
that the song has turned feint, quiet
could it really be Saturn? Or maybe it’s fear?
That animal fear of the unknown night.
Yes. Maybe that’s another answer to your question
and, of course, why I couldn’t write.
To turn away from the stars in fear and frustration
its to turn away from love and its light.
So that the planets go all around
but they’re meaningless, like actors without roles,
and a man is alone onto himself and bound
to the stone that has become his soul.
Mona we were never meant to be such persons,
who from fear disenchanted the universe
who on star and planets closed the curtains
and in denial invited the modern curse.
Looking forward, let me end with a recommendation
that we allow other planets, not just Venus,
educate us and influence our connection.
Perhaps it’ll be joyous Jupiter who blesses us.
Hamburg. June 2018.
